Silverback Gorilla

Leaders in cell phone recycling

Silverbacks are strong leaders, and take responsibility for those around them.

What is a Silverback in the wild?

A silverback is an adult male gorilla, typically more than 12 years of age and named for the distinctive patch of silver hair on his back. Silverbacks are the strong, dominant troop leaders – making all the decisions, mediating conflicts, determining the movements of the group, leading the others to feeding sites and taking responsibility for the safety and well-being of the troop.

What is an ECO-CELL Silverback?

We have named our leading conservation partners “Silverbacks.” Any partner who reaches a 1,000 collection total (no time limits) will be granted this special status.

Silverbacks enjoy the following benefits for as long as they participate in Eco-Cell’s program:

  • Free, customized cell phone collection boxes
  • Silverbacks receive at least $0.45 per phone, regardless of age or condition. That adds up!
  • Featured placement on our website
