Who We Are

Environment first

ECO-CELL recognizes that we are in the midst of an e-waste crisis. We have designed a program that encourages organizations to collect used electronics, including batteries, to help the environment. We realized from the start that this approach would take away from our profits. However, we have always maintained that this endeavor is about a lot more than just collecting the “profitable” used electronic goods – it’s about cleaning up and helping to save our environment by reducing the amount of electronics that end up in landfills.

Putting our money where it matters most

Our company’s structure reflects our commitment to putting the recycling program first. Almost 90% of our budgeted expenses go toward paying our Partners for their phone collection efforts and all the support costs associated with offering our “nothing to buy, nothing to sell” program – such as collection and promotional materials, shipping, marketing, warehousing & recycling.

ECO-CELL is committed to giving back

In the past, ECO-CELL has sponsored events such as Tents of Hope, Darfur at Dusk (a fundraiser for the people of Darfur benefiting the American Refugee Committee) and the Out of the Darkness walk. We continue to work closely with STAND, the student-arm of the Genocide Intervention Network, and the ENOUGH Project, a project to end genocide and crimes against humanity.

As part of our program we donate cell phones to non-profits for emergency purposes. In the past, we have donated phones to women’s shelters, hospitals and rangers in the Virunga National Park. If you are a non-profit in need of emergency phones, submit a request.
