Cell Phone Recycling - Lend us a hand!
The Como Park Zoo & Conservatory
St. Paul, MN
Many of us have old cell phones cluttering closets and drawers. During 2005, it is estimated that there were 500 million cell phones out of use in the United States.
Rather than throw an old cell phone away, people are encouraged to recycle their old cell phones and accessories at St Paul?s Como Zoo & Conservatory.
Who:
The Como Park Zoo & Conservatory is collecting used cell phones and their accessories to raise much-needed funds for Orangutan Conservation Projects. Como has partnered with Eco-Cell to recycle and reuse old cell phones.
Where:
Phones may be brought to Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. There are collection bins located in the Visitor Center and in the Primate Building. Phones may also be mailed to the Como Education Dept. 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul, MN 55103
Why:
Como will receive up to $10.00 cash for each phone turned in. You will be helping Como?s Conservation efforts.
*Money raised will be used for Orangutan conservation projects
*The proper recycling of used cell phones and their accessories protects our environment.
Who gets the phones:
Through ECO-CELL?s innovative program, 70% o the phones collected will be used by first-time, low income users abroad or by selected local organizations, such as Battered Women?s Programs for emergency use (911 calls). ECO-CELL runs a strict NO LANDFILL Program! All items received by ECO-CELL, including, batteries, accessories, and cell phones with no resale value, will be recycled using the best demonstrated technologies for recycling e-waste.
