ECO-CELL is proud to support Serengeti Watch.

Ever watch a nature documentary where you see wildebeests, gazelles, zebras, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, cheetahs, lions, and crocodiles all together? If you have, chances are you were watching a film about the Great Serengeti.

Did you know that there are plans to build a highway directly through the Serengeti National Park which would disrupt the Great Migration causing disastrous effects on the entire ecosystem? They have to be stopped.

The migration is absolutely critical for wildebeest survival, as it gives them access to changing year-round water sources. If the migration is disrupted by the road, the wildebeest population is predicted to decline from 1.3 million animals to about 200,000. If they die, so too do all the predators -lions, cheetahs, hyena, crocs, etc. Good-bye Wild Kingdom.

It’s the greatest threat in the Serengeti’s history — the government of Tanzania has approved a major commercial highway across the Serengeti National Park, in the direct path of ancient wildlife migration routes. Such a highway would be devastating.

ECO-CELL Commitment

ECO-CELL has spent nearly a decade raising awareness and leading efforts to protect gorilla habitats and natural resources in the Congo. Our commitment began with our first recycling program at the Louisville Zoo in 2003. Now, we find another devastating threat to one of the world’s most vital regions.

We are proud to join the global effort to protect the Serengeti.

How you can help

By recycling electronics with ECO-CELL, you are directly contributing to this grassroots effort to Save the Serengeti.

Recycling with us is easy. If you wish to actively start a collection, simply collect as many old cell phones and electronics as you can find. Good sources are neighbors and business in your area. (see: full list of items to collect). Once you get a bunch of items contact us at program@eco-cell.com to receive a pre-paid shipping label.
